Our Story
Pizza Depot began as a small family-owned pizzeria in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1995. Founded by Maria Rossi, a second-generation Italian-Canadian with a passion for authentic pizza, our first location was just 800 square feet with four tables and a small kitchen.
Maria had learned the art of pizza-making from her grandmother, who had brought treasured family recipes from Naples when she immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. These time-honored techniques—hand-stretched dough, sauce made from scratch, and a commitment to quality ingredients—formed the foundation of Pizza Depot's philosophy.
What set us apart from the beginning was our dedication to fresh ingredients and made-to-order pizzas. In an era when many pizza chains were focusing on speed and convenience at the expense of quality, we chose a different path. Maria insisted that every pizza would be made with dough prepared fresh daily, sauce made from whole tomatoes, and toppings sourced from local suppliers whenever possible.
Word of our delicious pizza spread quickly throughout Vancouver, and by 1998, we had opened two additional locations. Our expansion across Canada began in earnest in the early 2000s, as we brought our vision of better pizza to cities from Victoria to Halifax.
Today, Pizza Depot operates over 85 locations throughout Canada, but we remain true to Maria's original vision. While we've embraced technology to improve ordering and delivery, we've never compromised on the quality of our food. Every Pizza Depot location still makes dough fresh daily, prepares sauce from whole ingredients, and uses the finest toppings available.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to being your neighborhood pizzeria—a place where quality ingredients, time-honored techniques, and a passion for great food come together to create the perfect pizza experience.
